Welcome Reena Jain
New Counselor at
Community Center Shanghai

Community Center Shanghai welcomes Reena Jain, PhD to the organization’s Counseling Team. Dr. Jain is a licensed psychologist from India with over 17 years of experience in providing consulting services across the spectrum of human behavior. Dr. Jain has worked with clients of all ages in hospitals, private practice, schools, and colleges, and has extensive experience with adolescent issues including substance abuse, depression, suicidal tendency, relationships, and self-harm.

Dr. Jain offers individual, family, marriage, and group counseling and is available to see clients at the Community Center Shanghai Hongqiao and Downtown Counseling Centers.

New! Sewing for Kids

Discover your inner fashion designer and learn to sew your very own clothes, accessories, and decorations. Students will use sewing machine straight away and will build their confidence weekly through a wide range of projects. Projects are changed each term so students can join these classes regardless of ability and experience. Once classes are completed, students are welcome to join the Craft'd Fash+ion Show to show their creations!

*A wide range of materials is available to choose from and all materials including sewing machines are supplied

Chinese Cooking

Make Chinese dumplings, one of the most popular dishes in China. This class teaches how to make and wrap the dumpling wrappers with two different fillings.

New! Robotics

This class gives a good introduction to computer science and programming fundamentals. It enables an exploration of different robotics sensors and ways to program them with Scratch, a Lego-like graphical programming interface. The class will be instructed in English with French or Chinese variant as needed to further explain some concepts. The pedagogy is learning by doing and pair programming to facilitate collaboration, game sharing, and improvement regarding the child’s communication skills.

Open House and Bazaar at the Hongqiao Center

This past Monday Hongqiao Center hosted their Open House. Guests enjoyed learning about TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and its use in daily food, a Chinese culture series talk, meeting our enthusiastic and talented teachers, and shopping at the Open House Bazaar with our cheerful vendors.
