Giving Tree’s Second Annual Story Competition

Giving Tree, Community Center Shanghai’s Signature Charity, held its Second Annual Story Competition in January. The competition’s goal is to give children who receive a Giving Tree bag an opportunity to reflect on their experience. All 2016 Giving Tree participating schools were invited to submit several outstanding stories per grade level. Each winner received a prize package from Parkyard Hotel, and all nominees received honorary certificates as finalists in the competition.

Giving Tree volunteers, migrant school principals, and all 46 major donor corporations, schools, and organizations were invited and recognized on January 19 at Giving Tree’s Appreciation Dinner hosted at La Bota Restaurant. Attendees voted for the winners among the finalists.

“Thank you Giving Tree for bringing us gifts! I am so happy and wish you all a Happy New Year.”
-Wen Ting, Class 1

“Grandpa sun is grinning, sister cloud is dancing.
I am so happy liking a bird after I have received giving tree gifts.
In my heart, I have a determination that I will spread out my love when I grow up.”
-Shu Ting, Grade 1
