Barbara Zá Franks is the Program Director for Early Start English and founder of Shanghai D.R.E.A.M. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations and a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. She is also a Washington D.C. certified elementary teacher and a certified school principal for Kindergarten through grade 12. She has over 10 years of teaching and school leadership experience with 5 years of experience working in top Shanghai international schools. As Program Director, she is responsible for curriculum development of all Shanghai D.R.E.A.M. programs as well as training and supervising teachers to ensure high quality instructional practices.
Ms Kate has lived in Shanghai for almost seven years, moving here with her h family at the end of 2010. In the spring of 2017, I qualified as an English Language Teacher, passing the full-time CELTA course (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in the UK. Her previous experience includes working for five years as a volunteer with the charity Stepping Stones, teaching English to migrant workers’ children here in Shanghai. Before that, in the UK.She was a teaching assistant for eight years, working with special needs children.
